LEARN is the Maharashtra affiliate of Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) which provides it representation at the national level with regards to advocacy for the rights of women workers in the informal economy. In a sector specific collaboration, LEARN is also a member of Home Net South Asia (HNSA), a regional network of homeworkers organisations in the South Asia region. Through research collaboration, LEARN is associated with the international NGO Women in Informal Employment Globalising and Organising (WIEGO). LEARN is a member of ‘WE Action Group’-- a network of 30 NGOs in Maharashtra working on various aspects of women’s empowerment.

In 2018, LEARN was selected as Maharashtra level uniting platform of labour organisations and collectives for the National Alliance on Social Security (NASS). Every year, LEARN organises a Maharashtra state-level consultation meeting with labour collectives and labour NGOs and labour academic experts to discuss and make recommendations on the latest draft of the New Labour Code on Social Security. We advocate to include informal workers in the ambit of the new labour code on social security, especially around 5 key benefits for informal workers (government identity card to informal workers, health insurance, allowance for pregnant women and new mothers, workplace accident insurance, pension for seniors, and inclusion of informal workers in ESI scheme).
